Toko Bubur Sukacita: A Joyful Place
Couple weeks ago, I visited Yogyakarta, Middle Java, with my family. We always tried local restaurant, when we traveled. At this moment we wanted to go to Toko Bubur Sukacita because my husband found the account at IG. The food looked delicious and the vibe looked promising. Therefore, we decided to visit.
It is located at Taman Griya Indah B101, Bantul, Yogyakarta. It is a breakfast restaurant specialized at Chinese congee. They served congee, hainan rice, bakmi (noodle), and kwetiau (rice flat noodle) with some toppings. The owner build restaurant in their terrace. They renovated the garage into main kitchen. Although, it has been established only a year, Sukacita was really a hit. They only open at 6.30 am – 1 pm everyday and it is always crowded.
We ordered bubur sukacita, bakmi sukacita, hainam ayam sukacita. All the carbohydrate with the word ‘sukacita’ means you will get three toppings of chicken, ayam kukus, ayam merah, and ayam manis.
Ayam kukus is steamed chicken with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Ayam merah is roasted marinated chicken with angkak (red yeast rice) and special ingredients. Ayam manis is roasted marinated chicken with sweet soy sauce and special ingredients. Of course, you can order only one topping or without topping. My daughter loved their bakmi ayam manis.
You also can add the condiments like chili or soy sauce, pickles, and leeks by your own. There was a table condiment beside cashier. It was free flow. However, you should buy crisps if you want. There was more than one variant of crisp.
I tried all of them and nothing was failed. The three toppings were bonded with each carbohydrate. I cannot choose which one is my favorite. I like bubur, bakmi, and hainam ayam sukacita. It is rarely I can not decide which my favorite. Perhaps next time I should try fried kwetiau sukacita to decide.
Toko Bubur Sukacita also provide a coffee shop. It is called Berunding Coffee. I tried their latte and it was good. They used arabica coffee. If you did not want coffee, you can choose their tea or other drinks, like honey lime (soda with lime and honey), classic chocolate, hojicha (milk based with roasted green tea), and so on.
I also like the vibe. We eat on a terrace under the umbrella of tree (and the real umbrella, lol). It was like we eat at the friend’s or family’s house. I felt joy, yet comforting. I think it lives up to its name, Sukacita, which means happiness or joy. Therefore, we got breakfast in this place two days around before we came back home.
I definitely will come back here when I visit Yogyakarta again!
