Sarangan Lake: Sweet as Strawberries

When you want to travel, don’t think too much. Somehow the destination just comes to you.
Someday, I was dying to travel. It was long ago after my last trip. Suddenly, one of my office-mate offered to visit her parents in law’s house in Magetan, East Java. The house was near Sarangan Lake. It was wonderful offering.
My last visit in Sarangan when I was a child and I had a good memory of it. Oke, then we decided to go there.
Gladly, when I offered to my other office-mates, many of them wanted to follow. Therefore, 10 of us will be heading to Magetan and the host did not mind.

We decided to go in the morning from Surabaya by car. It was about five hours from Surabaya to Magetan. We will stay one night and in the next day we will go to Sarangan Lake.
Our trip was fun. We had a lot of chats, laughs, and snacks of course. We arrived in the afternoon. The parents were so much friendly. They had already prepared lunch for us. We were so thankful to them.
After we took a rest for a while, we decided to go around. There were so many handicrafts shops. FYI, Magetan was famous for its leather craft. That’s why so many good stuffs there. And all of them were genuine leather with affordable prices. It was heaven for women like us.

Then, on the next early morning, we went to Sarangan Lake. Although, the road was not straight, we enjoyed the trip. Thanks to the view because Sarangan Lake was located in the feet of Lawu Mountain. We can see many vegetables and fruits garden.
That’s why in the parking area, there were so many strawberries sellers. The strawberries was so big and sweet. It was different with strawberries in town. Perhaps because of the freshness and the weather.

Then we enter the area. Even it was quite crowded, but the lake still looked wonderful. I saw many people rode the horse. It reminded me of my last visit. I also rode a horse to surround the lake.
Instead of riding horses, we decided to rode a speedboat to surround the lake. I liked how the wind blew my body when I was in a boat. We rented two boats, and the driver acted like we raced. So exciting!

After that, we felt hungry. I liked to try rabbit satay. However, some of my friends refuse that because they did not have the heart to eat that cute animal. I just okey to eat that because I did not see when it was killed. The important is, it was halal food. It tasted really good, softer than chicken and really moist. Yummy!

Before we got home, I bought many strawberries. They sold strawberries in a bucket and I was planned to bring that until home. However, when in a car I ate one by one strawberry. And the bucket was empty before I got home. Sorry mom, I did not bring you anything.
Now, when I recall Sarangan Lake, I will remember leather, speedboat, and the sweet strawberries.
