If you go to Surabaya and asked the people three delicious bakso (meatballs) sellers, the answer may vary. However, Bakso Solo Rindu Malam will be called at least once.

Some people said it was good, some said it was usual or nothing special. However, Bakso Solo Rindu Malam is crowded almost every day.

It is located in the corner of Jl. Ciliwung and Adityawarman, near Surabaya Zoo. There is no parking lot. Thus, if you drive a car, sometimes you should wait the space for parking.

The place is quite big with some fans on the wall. Though, if you came when it is crowded plus in the afternoon, you should consider about the hot weather. There is no AC in here, because it is not a restaurant.

My favorite part is a keroncong live music. There are some street singers and musicians who played some keroncong or dangdut music. Mostly played in Javanese. While eating bakso you can enjoy the music. You also can request songs. If you like the performance, do not forget to give a tip in a container they provided.

As the name, they serve bakso (meat balls) and mi ayam (chicken noodle) with some hot and ice drinks. There are various kinds of meatballs. Some of them are bakso halus (smooth meatballs), bakso kasar (tendon meatballs), bakso tahu (tofu meatballs), bakso puyuh (quail egg meatballs), bakso keju (cheese meatballs), bakso campur (mixed meatballs).

My children like bakso halus, but I like bakso kasar. The mixture of flour and meat at the meatballs are balance. If you choose bakso kasar, there is added texture from tendon. You will taste a crunchy from the meat. I also like the light taste from the broth. Really loved it!

From Rp 20.000 for each bowl (in 2025), I think it is worthed to try. There are many loyal customers who still came here for years. Some Indonesian celebrities also have eaten here as you can see the pictures on the wall. No wonder because Bakso Rindu Malam has established since 1984. Time will always tell which food are good.
