Curtain Waterfall in Lombok

I would like to introduce you to the most beautiful waterfall I have had ever seen. It was Air Terjun Benang Kelambu in Lombok. Even Lombok is famous for their beaches, I bet you do not want to miss this waterfall.

I came to this waterfall on my second visit to Lombok. I went there with some of my friends. One of them was the local person. It was an advantage if we travel with local. They knew the best spot and usually it was cheaper. However, you have to find the good one.

Luckily, our local (now is my friend) was the best. He was the Lombok travel writer. Who else would be the best person to accompany our trip? He suggested us to visit this waterfall. And guess what, it was also his first time. Hahaha. So, we will have a new journey together.

The waterfall was located in the feet of Agung mountain, Middle Lombok. It was about an hour or 32 km from Mataram, capital city of Lombok. We went there by a car in the morning.

When we arrived, the air was so fresh and little bit cold. But, there was still a sun. We were welcomed by so many trees. From the gate of the waterfall, we should walk. The road had already built, so we can walk easily. There were many food merchants, maybe you want to eat something.

Not long after we walked, I thought I heard the voice of water. Were we there yet? Nope. My friend said it was Air Terjun Benang Setokel. Yes, there were two waterfalls in this area.

“Benang Setokel” in local language meant tuft yarn just like the form of it. There were two waterfalls with each 20 metres height. This waterfall felt in the pond. Even we wanted to get wet so badly, my local friend remain us to do not that. Our journey to Benang Kelambu was still long. Therefore, we just take a rest in here.

Then, we continued. Make sure you brought enough water because the journey was a quiet long. We walked in a footpath. Around us were trees, so it liked walking in the little forest. We found many big jackfruits hanging on the tree. I would like to put it, but it was not ours. There was a little river and some trenches along the road.

Not far before the location, we went down the stairs. I started to hear the voice of waterfall again. I also can see it, but actually it was still far. I wanted to run, but we should walked carefully because the path was not straight. I would not lie that I was exhausted.

Finally, we arrived. Fiuh, it was magnificent. The waterfalls came out from the plant like curtain. No wonder it was called Benang Kelambu (Kelambu meant curtain, Benang meant yarn).

There were some rocks in which we can see the whole waterfall. The waterfalls had three levels, but there was no pond like the former waterfall. The highest one was came from water springs and the height was 30 metres. The second one which was 10 metres, and the last had 5 metres.

All of my friends instantly took a bath under the waterfall. I should hold myself not to hurry because I wanted to take the picture first. The scenery was too perfect. Some people said if you wanted to stay young, drink the water. Even I did not believe, but I drank it because I was thirsty. Wow, so fresh.

Ok, it was enough to take a picture. It was time to get wet. Friends, here I came.
