Part 2 : Singapore

We arrived at Singapore very early morning. It meant that we could not check in at the hostel. Oke, then we can walked around Singapore. We stopped in the MRT station (I forgot the name) and Thanks God it was already open.

Although we can not check in yet, we still can leave our baggage in the hostel. We stayed at Rucksack Inn hostel in Chinatown. We stopped by just a minute to take a rest and leave our backpack.

Then, we took MRT to Marina Bay to see the Merlion statue. The MRT was much more comfortable than in KL. It was also connect the whole Singapore. We will not get lost as long as we could reach the MRT station.

When we arrived in Marina Bay area, it was still empty. We should walk from the station to Marina Bay. For Indonesian, it was so far away. We were not used to walk, so spoiled.

Finally we could see the Merlion statue. You will not state in Singapore, unless you took a photo with this Singapore icon. At that morning, I saw Singaporean got exercise. They jog or walked. However, an old lady was doing kung-fu. He practiced with the sword. So amazing looking women at her age still active and strong.

Many restaurants were still closed. I thought it will be merrier if we came at night. Therefore, we just took many pictures and sat while looked around. Then we cameback to hostel.

The hostel was wonderful. We slept with some people like in a dorm and we got a locker to save our luggage. In the bedroom, there were some bunk bed. I just prayed that none of our roommate will sleep nude. It will be an awkward situation. Thank God, I got polite roommates. I also like the bathroom. It was also large. There were many bathrooms and sinks. Wow, I just felt I lived in a school dorm just like my dream.

At that night, I could not fall asleep easily even my body was so tired. I did not know why. Perhaps it was my first experience to sleep in a bunk bed. Or I just too excited because tomorrow we would like to go Universal Studio Singapore. Okey, I just shut my eyes and remembered that we should woke up early.

Fortunately, we did not wake up late even I slept late. Because it was still early, mostly guests were still asleep. Therefore, we should not to queue for the bathroom. With the quick preparation, we were ready. USS, here we came. (Read here )

Although, we were so tired after USS, we did not come back to hostel directly. The sky was still shinning. Therefore, we went to the famous road in Singapore, Orchard Road. From the USS we went there by MRT. I just very curious what was in Orchard Road, hence many people wanted to go there.

Luckily, we should not walk to far, because the station was near with the road. We arrived there in the evening. It was not really crowded, perhaps because it was not weekend. Orchard road was a big road with many fancy malls. This was a heaven for a shopaholic. That was why I was not really interesting with this road. We just sit and looked around the people.

Actually, I was looking for the famous 1$ uncle ice cream. I walked around, but I did not find it. So sad because it was the only food we could afford. Hahaha. Usually, I loved window shopping at the mall. However, I lost my confidence because I felt so ugly after we had fun in USS and had not took a bath yet. Silly thought, but I felt it.

Then, we decided to go back to hostel and had dinner there. When I saw my hostel, I felt so homey. I was glad that my friend chose this hostel. Although we still have a little problem.

It was the food. Because our area was Chinatown, I had a little doubt weather the food halal or not. The safe choice was fast food like Mc Donalds which was near there. However, I did not really like it and it will be boring if I ate it everyday. Therefore for dinner, we tried to choose street food.

Actually, in the night, Chinatown was transformed as a big food court. People put many chairs and tables in the middle of the street. In the edge, there were hundreds of food. Oh, I imagine that if all of this food was a halal food, there will be a miracle for us.

Because this was street food, I can not ask halal food certificate. I just choose the food stall which was not served pork. Therefore, I choose seafood. While I went around, I saw a hijab girl quequed in a seafood noodle. I approached her. I asked weather she believed that it was halal. She said because no pork in the menu, so she bought it. Okey, I followed her.

Wow, the noodle was delicious. I also bought an red bean ice. I was amazed with the ice because it was so colourful. They spread colourful syrup on the ice mountain, so that I felt like I drank rainbow ice. Hemm, yummy!

This night I felt asleep easily. Perhaps because of the fun in USS, a good dinner, and a (finally) familiar place, I slept like a baby. That was why, we woke up a little bit late. I forgot that Singapore had an hour earlier than Indonesia. And I had not set my watch yet. We should catch the flight to Bangkok, Thailand.

Oh my God. We did super quick preparation at that morning. The trip to Changi airport might be an hour from our hostel. I prayed that we did not miss the plane.

Finally, we were not late in Changi. But, we should run in the airport. Moreover, I would like to walk around Changi because I heard that many wonderful spot in Changi. I did not had other choice. Perhaps in my next visit, I will explore Changi.
