Kembali Djaya: Noodle and Dim Sum

Noodle is my comfort food. No matter of the style, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Indonesia, I always like noodles. Therefore, I like to try noodle restaurant. One of them is Kembali Djaya at Jl. Pucang Anom C/D No.58, Pucang Sewu, Surabaya.

Almost every week when I shop at Pucang Market, I always pass through this restaurant. It is interest me because it opens 24 hours. I think it is rare a noodle restaurant opens all the time.

I also like the design of the restaurant. The color dominated with red, white, and green. It looks clean, but still catchy. One evening, we had the opportunity to try this restaurant.

At the front name sign, it was stated that their menu is noodle, porridge, coffee, dim sum. Though, when I saw list of the menu, there was no porridge. I noticed this because my son loved porridge. He wanted to order it.

First, we should order at the cashier at the first floor. We ordered complete chicken and beef noodle, toasted kaya bread, cheese dim sum, tea, and chocolate ice. Unfortunately, cheese dim sum was empty. They offered to replace cheese dim sum into original dim sum. We agreed.

It was almost crowded when we came. Perhaps, it made the wait was longer than it took. Actually, I didn’t know because it was my first time. It felt long because we felt hungry.

The drinks and toasted kaya bread came first. It is a good one, not too dry bread and not too sweet of kaya.

Then, came the noodle. The complete one was included a dim sum, 2 meat balls, chips, and chicken/beef as the topping. They also give a pak choi. I like noodle with vegetables. It came without fork and spoon, only chopstick.

We should take by ourselves at a condiment table. There were chili oils, cucumber pickles, tissue, spoon and fork. It meant that we can take as much as we need.

The taste was good, but not special. The noodle is ok, not too soft or hard. I think chili oil was for dim sum. Nevertheless, I also added it at the noodle. It elevated the taste.

The original dim sum was too long to out. We almost gave up to wait because we were almost finished to eat. Finally, when it comes, it was good. Worth to wait.

There are two dining places, outdoor at first floor, and indoor at second floor. We chose the second floor because we wanted AC room. Also, it was wider and less noisy than first floor.

I think we will come back when not too crowded. I want to try more of their dim sum, especially gohyong and the pudding.
