As a Surabaya citizen, Bromo is like a-must-tourism-destination. However, I just twice or maybe three times went to Bromo. It was quite embarrassing since I declared that I like traveling. Moreover my first time when I was in collage. Hahaha.

I never hate Bromo, but there was always obstacle when I had a plan to go there. My relatives, friends, office-mates, even my neighbors were quite a lot to invite me to go there. However, it seems like I had not matched yet with Bromo. Someone said everything is beautiful at the time. I believe that.

Finally, my best friend in college asked me to go to Bromo by motorcycle. We brought two motorcycles. She was with his boyfriend, I was with his friend. His friend also never went to Bromo. Oh, I was not alone.

I heard that Bromo was really cold, so I brought two jackets. Surprisingly, my motorcycle’s friend did not bring jacket nor worn it. Oke, I thought he was tough with the cold. Then, we went to Bromo. Do not asking me about the route, because I was blind map. I just believed with my friends. And that time, there was no GPS. If we lost the direction, we just asked to people around us.

Approaching Bromo, the street was so winding just like other mountainous roads. Furthermore, we left to noon. Therefore, the fog has came even we did not catch Bromo. The road was so dark and cold. I just pray that we will arrive soon without lost. You know what, my motorcycle friend finally borrow my jacket. He said that he did not suspect that the weather will be so freezing.

Finally, we arrived in Penanjakan 1 area. It was the place that people can see sunrise with Bromo as the background. If you have extra budget, you can stay in a hotel and order the tourism package. In the night, you will sleep at the hotel and in the early morning, the guide will ask you to go to Penanjakan.

However, if you did not have extra money like us, you can stay at the food stalls (warung) around Penanjakan. Just spent for coffee, instant noodle, and a bunch of talking, you can stay as long as you want.

Time was so slow when you waited for something. Although we just wait only 4 or 5 hours until sunrise, it was like forever. I can not sleep because it was freezing. I wear a thick jacket, a hat until cover my ears, long trousers, socks and shoes. Surprisingly, locals only wear long or short sleeves T-shirt, a hat, pants, and saroong. They felt okey and slept like a baby.

Around 3 am, many people started to come. They were sunrise hunter just like us. My eyes widely open. It was the time! Therefore, we joined them. We should climb up the stairs to see the sunrise. I saw maybe hundreds of people because it was weekend. We should speed up our pace, so we can get the best spot.

Although it was still dark, many people hurry their walks. Nobody wanted to miss the sunrise, so did we. Moreover, we struggled to be here. Hehehe. Then, slowly a white light appear. I hold my breath. From the dark, here came the light. We saw the sunrise. It was wonderful. The sunrise with the mountain background. Although, there were some clouds, it was still awesome.

After it rose, we can see the beautiful view. Bromo was not the only mountain that we could see here. We also could see Batok, Kursi, and Semeru mountain. The top of the mountains with the cloud. No one can deny the beauty of it.
